November Update: Still on a slow boat from China
4 months ago – Fri, Nov 22, 2024 at 07:14:43 AM

Hi everyone!

Happy November! I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the game is slowly making its way across the ocean to the various distribution centers. The boats should arrive in port around mid-December with the EU boat arriving earlier than the US boat. Shipping to customers in Asia is via VFI. VFI is backed up but will start shipping shortly, around the first part of December. This means that everyone should receive a copy of Four Horsemen at roughly the same time! That's exciting right?

The bad news is that mid-December is right in the middle of the holiday season. Once the ship arrives at the port, the distribution company (Naylor Games) will unload the game, check inventory, and send out individual shipping notices. They warned me that shipping during the holidays can be a bit nuts and asked that I set expectations for a January delivery instead of December. I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle, but all of those non-Four Horsemen Amazon orders for the holidays end up taking over all of the distribution networks. By the way, I really like this distribution company (Naylor Games) as they've helped me push the manufacturer to get the game on the boat. If you have any questions about shipping, please either send me an email or leave a comment. I'll answer them to the best of my ability!

In other news, I took Four Horsemen to BGG con in Dallas and played it there. Unfortunately, I only took 1 picture! I'm really bad at taking pictures. Thank you to everyone who played!

I created a couple of different files that you might find interesting. First, I put together a full game walkthrough for people who prefer stepping through example turns instead of watching tutorial videos or reading rule books. I uploaded the file to BGG. The file is currently waiting for moderator approval but should show up shortly.

I also started a FAQ and shared a folder where you can find the FAQ and additional information. The folder is here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11nOAdXBQSgh8E0wliuxgTl4HotpsE1m6?usp=sharing

The FAQ is obviously pretty sparse at this point, but I will regularly update it as questions come in. I am also planning to update the rulebook with extra content after Thanksgiving.

Hopefully you all have had a wonderful month!

September Update Part 2
6 months ago – Mon, Sep 23, 2024 at 07:35:58 AM

Hi everyone!

I wanted to give you a quick update on the game's status. The good news is that we are ready for the boat! Everything is produced, labeled, packaged and ready to ship. You will get shipping information and a last chance to update your address once the boat reaches the distributor. I apologize for the delay in getting these games delivered to you all.

I have pictures from the factory before everything was packaged into cartons. I really liked seeing all of the copies! You can see the packed boxes in the back.

I also took higher quality photos of the miniatures. I'm not a photographer, but I think these images better show the details on the minis than the last set.

Finally, I created new content over on the Four Horsemen Youtube channel. One video is a single player game where Thor takes on Loki. The other is a 3-player game against Cthulhu.  Both were super fun to make.

I'm new to creating Youtube content. If you have suggestions or want to see additional videos, let me know. I'm always looking to improve the quality of what I'm delivering.

One last note is that I won't be at Essen this next week :(.  I wanted to go but ended up scheduled for surgery at the same time. I will be at BGG con in November if any of you would like to meet there. Let me know if you'd like to meet up at a con and play the game. I will do my best to attend.

Thank you again for your patience! I'm glad we're so close to getting these delivered.

Unboxing Video
7 months ago – Tue, Sep 03, 2024 at 07:32:30 PM

Hi everyone!

The final version arrived at my house. I'm glad the manufacturer sent one more review copy instead of just shipping. Several items were in the wrong box, including having the Greek heroes in the Chinese box. The manufacture is repacking the boxes now and estimates that it should ship in about 9 days from China. I created an unboxing video for anyone wanting to see the final product (and the wrong packaging). The quality ended up being fantastic.

I also went to SaltCon this week and played the game several times there. The reviews were phenomenal with one group stating, "This is the best cooperative game I've ever played." That felt really good. I even got to play a couple of games, including where I played as Lilith. Fun time.

August Update: Villain Video
7 months ago – Sat, Aug 24, 2024 at 12:24:09 PM

Hi everyone! Welcome to August. Hopefully you had a great summer!

First, the bad news - the game is delayed a bit more. I wanted to get as much information as possible before posting this update, which is why the update is a little later in August than the July update.

The manufacturer is sending me another copy to review and double check all components are correctly printed and the correct box. Note that manufacturing is complete, which means the game will be on the boat 5-6 days after I approve the contents. From there, it sails to the distributor and then on to you guys. The time required to get to you depends on when the shipping container is full, the speed of the boat, and similar factors. I'm hoping that you will have the game in two more months.  I still don't have details from the manufacturer on why this delay happened considering I submitted the files to them in December of last year with the expectation that we would deliver in August, but I will let you know what I find out.

The silver lining of the delay is that I can double check all the components and prevent additional mistakes. Plus, this will give me a chance to make an unboxing video and share it as well.

For today's update on content, I created a video that explains each of the villains and how they change the game. I personally prefer to watch videos over reading instructions. Hopefully this is interesting! If it is, I can make a video on the expansion villains.

Thank you again for your patience. I really appreciate you all taking this journey with me!

July Update
8 months ago – Mon, Jul 22, 2024 at 10:14:38 PM

Hi everyone! Welcome to July! We're in the final stretch as all of the last-minute items are completed in preparation for shipping. We should begin shipping next month. I can't wait to get the game in your hands.

This last month I got a final copy of the minis with colors. Check them out!

I showed you the heroes two months ago. Time for some villains. Each of them have a special mechanic that varies the game. They also each have a two unique event cards. For example, Beelzebub eats a hero's followers. To defeat him you have to have enough followers that he can't eat them all.

Asmodeus unleashes hordes of demons, requiring the heroes to create one safe area at the end where humanity can survive.

Cronus requires the heroes to unleash a titan that can defeat him.

Behemoth must be killed, roaming the board spawning its offspring.

Lilith spreads corruption on the board, which will contaminate the heroes if they get too close.

Chtulhu devours your relics, requiring heroes to end the game without a deck.

Krampus gives wonderful gifts! Defeat him with the holiday spirit.

There are 13 villains in the core box and 4 in each expansion. Which one are you ready to battle?
